The most severe drought in nearly fifty years has been crippling food production and has the almost guaranteed potential to drive up food costs in the near future. The New York Times reports that “the government said it expected the record-breaking weather to drive up the price for groceries next year…The drought is now affecting 88 percent of the corn crop, a staple of processed foods and animal feed as well as the nation’s leading farm export.”
Filta Franchise Owners across the nation are making a push this summer to help commercial kitchens combat rising cooking oil costs with the FiltaFry service. Filta provides the mobile based FiltaFry service for the micro-filtration of cooking oil and the vacuum based deep cleaning of fryers. This unique service helps extend the life of the cooking oil, which in turn can reduce the amount of oil purchased and the resulting positive impact on the environment.
