Filta Assists with Disaster Relief

JJ Paul Presents Check to Brent Davidson of Bama Dining

Tuscaloosa, Alabama, home of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, took a major hit when the devastating tornadoes of 2011 struck and took over 500 lives. The month of April, typically reserved for bringing the season of spring, proved to be one of the most destructive months that the United States has seen in decades.

Fortunately, one of the many bright spots that came with the aftermath of the storm was JJ Paul and The Filta Franchise Network. Through this situation, JJ felt like he had to do something. He was one of the first people to arrive on scene asking what he could do to help.

With a cheerful heart, he was happy to assist with the reconstruction of the community. JJ contacted other area Franchise Owners to give a donation to Bama Dining, which Filta matched dollar for dollar. On behalf of The Filta Group, we thank you for carrying the Filta name proudly in your respective communities.

In the last few months, Filta has added quite a few stadiums and arenas to its growing customer list in the sports and entertainment market segment.

These include Fenway Park, Raymond James Stadium and the Xcel Energy Center, home of the Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Minnesota Wild respectively.

Local Boston Franchise Owner, Paul Reissfelder, says “We’re pleased to be working with Aramark at such an historic ballpark [Fenway Park]. They really saw value in not only the reduction of oil usage, but also in the improvement in the employee safety.”

Gladys Edmunds to Address Filta Franchise Conference

without comments

Nationally recognized speaker, business coach, author and entrepreneur Gladys Edmunds is scheduled to address members of Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions Franchise during their conference being held in Orlando May 13-14 2011.

Edmunds has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show , Good Morning America and CNN, but she is probably best known for her weekly business column, the Entrepreneurial Tight Rope, published Wednesdays in USA Today.  Each week she provides common sense advice to business owners and those who dream to be their own boss.

We are excited to have a speaker of Gladys’s caliber speak to our Franchise Owners.”  Said Filta’s Chief Operating Officer, Tom Dunn.  “She will address our owners on Balancing Life & Work.  This is especially timely, because sometimes we get so caught up in our daily routines, we forget why we got into business in the first place.”

In addition to her Keynote address, Filta has engaged Edmunds to provide private coaching sessions to a number of its Franchise Owners.  “It is another level of support for our Franchise Owners to use to reach their business and personal goals.  Bottom Line:  Gladys knows what it takes to be successful”  said Dunn.

Oil Recycled Tops 1/3 Billion Pounds

without comments

Filta franchisees and their techs hit a landmark during February 2011… the total oil they filtered to date rose to over one third of a billion pounds.

To put this into perspective, it takes a million acres to produce that amount of soybean oil. With the continued deforestation of the world’s rainforests to support the rising demand for food and fuel, this is quite an impact.

Jason Sayers, Filta’s President, says “when you see the impact we’re having on the environment, we feel like we’re really making a difference.  To continue making this difference, it is our view that you have to create a model that economically works for customers… and we have.  In this way the growth is sustainable whilst continuing to be green”.

With over 50 vans added to the Filta’s network during 2010 alone, the future looks green.

Filta help with Recycle Mania Tournament!

without comments

Recycle ManiaFilta Franchise Owner Davis Cloutier, in St.Paul MN, is thrilled to be participating with Aramark food service www.aramark.com and Hamline University in the 2011 RecycleMania tournament www.recyclemaniacs.org.

Hamline and 629 other Colleges and Universities are participating in a friendly competition to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. Filta is decreasing Hamline’s environmental footprint by micro-filtering Hamline’s cooking oil to provide maximum life so they purchase less oil, removing the carbon off the fryer elements so they burn less fuel and then finally recycling the used oil into BioDiesel.

Good luck Hamline! www.campusdish.com

Green Leaf for a Green Company

without comments

Filta is presented with the Green Leaf Award for their cost-effective and eco-friendly solutions for businesses.

Filta President, Jason Sayers, discusses environmental benefits with the crowd and Commisioner Stewart (right).

On December 1, the Filta Group was presented with the Green Leaf Award for Environmental Excellence by Orange County, FL Commissioner Linda Stewart. This award is to thank local individuals, groups, and businesses who work hard to protect the environment and demonstrate “green” practices. The Filta Group was awarded this honor because of their new and innovative way of operating to reduce consumption and pollution.

The Filta Group’s FiltaFry service is a key reason why they were granted the Green Leaf Award. FiltaFry is a service offered by Filta that uses a mobile microfiltration unit to filter deep fryer oil in order to increase its life-span, thus helping companies significantly reduce their oil usage, which helps save money as well as the environment. So far, over a quarter of a billion pounds of oil has been filtered to date by Filta. This service also involves cleaning and maintaining the deep fryers to help them last longer, also helping to cut costs.

After the oil has reached the end of its life, the FiltaBio service comes into play. Filta safely removes the waste oil, which is then purified and turned into biodiesel, which is safe and environmentally friendly.

Orange County Commissioner Linda Stewart has helped with many green initiatives in Orlando such as insisting that the new Orlando Magic arena is “green”. The arena is expected to receive a nationally coveted award for energy conservation, making it and the downtown destinations for anyone interested in how green buildings can help sustain the environment and improve a business’ bottom line. Commissioner Linda Stewart deserves credit for insisting that the county support the arena only if the Magic built it that way. It uses 40 percent less water and saves $800,000 annually in utility and other costs.

Filta and the Magic are helping Orlando take the steps towards greater sustainability.
