This year, Filta is pleased to announce that New York Times Best Selling Author and Body Language Expert Janine Driver will be the Conference Keynote Speaker in July 2012.</p>
<p>Tom Dunn, Filta’s COO stated, “Body Language can make or break a sale and not knowing how to read it can make you miss buying signals.” Body language boils down to communication, either conscious or unconscious, with the movement or position of the human body. The lessons we will learn from Janine will not only help the Franchise Owners make more money, but also help everyone learn how to communicate more effectively. After the Keynote, Janine will host a business roundtable on improving body language to help close sales.</p>

Tom Dunn, a long time leader in the franchise industry, was recognized at the annual conference as a CFE. This designation requires the completion of a meticulous academic study presented by the IFA’s Educational Foundation. The study program enhances franchising professionals’ understanding of both the industry’s fundamental and complex aspects. It also provides specialized knowledge, industry recognition, peer-level networking, and professional standing.</p>
<p>Mr. Dunn is very pleased to have earned this recognition and stated, “Since first joining the IFA several years ago, it was my goal to earn the CFE designation. The designation is given to those individuals who have dedicated their careers to franchising and have become students of our industry. I want to thank the employees of Filta, our Franchise Owners and Suppliers as well as my friends at the IFA for their support.” Currently, there are about 1,400 franchise executives that are enrolled in the program or have received their CFE certification, and over 300 IFA Member Companies have one or more executives enrolled in the program.</p>

Since its inception in 1960, the International Franchise Association has represented and protected the interests of the franchise community as well as the American entrepreneurial spirit. IFA’s mission is to protect, enhance and promote franchising through government relations, public relations and educational programs.</p>

It is the place where most accidents can  occur due to the hustle and bustle of trying to get food prepared and  out in a timely manner. With all this activity, adults and children are  very susceptible to becoming burn victims.</p>
<p>Filta has decided  to make a donation toward the Burn Unit at the Orlando Regional Medical  Center in hopes of helping to relieve some of the financial stress  associated with severe burn victims and shedding light on how to prevent  the injuries. &#8220;Preventing burn injuries is our first priority,&#8221;  according to Tom Dunn, Filta&#8217;s COO. &#8220;We hope our donation can help ORMC  provide the critical care that burn victims and their families need  during the recovery process.&#8221;</p>
<p>Last year, over 3.8 billion dollars were spent on burn injuries  and over a million work days were lost due to the impacts of these  injuries. Filta, who offers the nation&#8217;s largest mobile cooking oil micro-filtration and fryer management service, reduces its clients&#8217; exposure to burn related accidents and insurance claims by limiting the employees&#8217; exposure to hot cooking oil. Filta&#8217;s recent  partnership with Navion Insurance recognizes the reduced liability by  providing commercial kitchens with a 5% insurance premium reduction when  they use FiltaFry service.</p>

Since the ancient times, stadiums have hosted some of the most historic events known to man. Most recently, Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis proved to be another event that will go down in history as one of the greatest games played in recent memory.</p>
<p>Food output and consumption has significantly increased with the arrival of these major sports stadiums and venues. Filta has been able to aid in the process by cutting cooking oil usage, costs and providing cooking oil disposal services to these major venues. Lucas Oil Stadium, home of Super Bowl XLVI, uses about 500 lbs of cooking oil a week. They found that by using the FiltaFry service they are saving on oil consumption and the savings are equivalent to planting about 36,000 trees over the course of a year, quite an impact.</p>
<p>Filta also services other major venues such as Bryant Denney Stadium – home of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Raymond James Stadium – home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Georgia Dome – home of the Atlanta Falcons. Along with the majors, Filta Franchise Owners also service numerous baseball stadiums, basketball, and hockey venues.</p>

Filta will be using their environmentally responsible focus and channel it into a jovial community and educational piece based on the aspects of “going green.”</p>
<p><em>The Green Ladle</em> will focus on the green aspects of commercial kitchens, and will also share best practices that kitchen operators across the nation will be able to use. It will also target key sustainability issues within the kitchen and how to overcome issues involving the management and disposal of cooking oil.</p>
<p>As kitchens begin to be more environmentally friendly, <em>The Green Ladle </em>will be a great addition to commercial kitchens. Be on the lookout for its inaugural issue that is set to launch in February 2012.</p>

While the 100,000 plus fans enjoy the hospitality of Bryant Denny Stadium, there are a few companies behind the scenes that will be working to ensure those fans have a good time while reducing the environmental impact of the crowd. The University of Alabama, along with Centerplate, Southern Food Service and Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions, have created sustainability solutions to manage the large amount of cooking oil that will be used during the game.</p>
<p>Centerplate and Southern Food Services, who manage the majority of foodservice for Bryant Denny, turned to local Filta Franchisee JJ Paul to manage the cooking oil and deep fryers. It is his responsibility to ensure the stadium’s cooking oil and fryers are in top shape from event to event.</p>
<p>The services provided to the University have generated some impressive results. The Stadium now uses 4,200 fewer pounds of oil then it previously did. The reduction in oil consumption saves money, but it also creates a measurable reduction in environmental impact. To give you some perspective &#8211; That saves 8.6 Acres of land, 6.1 Million gallons of water and reduces carbon emissions by a whopping 3,287 pounds – that is the equivalent of planting 470 trees. The Green advantage clearly goes to the home team.</p>

<p>Southern Foodservice Management provides onsite dining, catering and  vending services to business &amp; industry, education and government  clients. The U.S. Commerce Association “Best of Local Business” Awards Program recognizes outstanding local business across the nation. Award recipients are said to have achieved “exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category” by “enhancing the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.”</p>
<p>In 2011, Filta became a Three Time Award Winner, which places the company into the top 1% of Award recipients nationwide. Tom Dunn, Filta’s COO stated, “We are proud to have built a company that has been recognized as a top green company across the nation.”</p>

<p>According to Eric Magee, Navion’s President, <em>“Restaurants that use the FiltaFry service dramatically lower their exposure to workers compensation and general liability loss.  Filta effectively reduces employee exposure to hot oil and the hazards of cleaning fryers. It is simple &#8211; Since there is reduced risk, the restaurant deserves a better rate.”</em> Eric says he has firsthand knowledge of the dangers of working with hot cooking oil and has a few scars from his youth to prove it.</p>
